Short bio, ready to copy

Patrick Rydman is a Swedish singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer based outside Gothenburg. He has made a living from songs for more than thirty years: his own records, and music for other artists, stage, radio, film and games. Now he is releasing eighteen new songs over two years, one at a time, like chapters in a novel. It opens with “Green Shirt”, written after he found an old film clip of his father, who died more than twenty years ago. It runs through “Soft Bruises”, about a long-distance love that began with letters across the Baltic Sea in 1991, and “Life Goes On”, co-written at Rhuba Camp in 2025. He was nominated for a Grammis with the vocal ensemble Amanda, won the Manifestpriset as producer and co-writer of Fia Ekberg’s “Bangatan”, and has twice received a STIM stipend. A reviewer at Heaven (NL) called his songs “exceptionally beautiful”.

What they wrote

  • “…it’s clear that there’s a practiced craftsmanship behind it… above all, he avoids those obvious trapdoors when he approaches the cozy-jazz domain – and he avoids them with an effortless flourish to boot. Nicely done.”

    Groove (SE)
  • “With this mature debut, he beats many far more accomplished gentlemen at their own game. It feels relevant and vibrant all the way through.”

    Lira (SE)
  • “Great songwriting and vocals, dynamic production, nuanced playing… a way with words that makes you listen to the storytelling… a gem of an album.”

    Anders Lundqvist (SE)
  • “The songs on Leaving a Memory are exceptionally beautiful.”

    Heaven (NL)
  • “…damn fine vocals from Rydman’s sensitive voice… in the music, vocals and lyrics you’ll find the same warmth, intimacy and melancholy that you feel when summer is dying and darkness lies down in the world outside your window.”

    Zero Music Magazine (SE)
  • “Melodic, catchy and memorable… Patrick’s voice is slightly darker and more akin to a Neil Finn, Stan Meissner and even George Harrison… A pleasure and a really big surprise, that’s basically what we have here, and I would recommend it to anyone to check out this record.”

    Strutterzine (NL)
